Contract Delivery Service (CDS) routes focused on box delivery throughout rural areas.
You control how you run your delivery business—your schedule, your expenses, your operations. You are an independent business owner, not an employee.
Most available routes are local CDS box delivery routes, allowing you to return home daily on your own schedule.
You are free to accept or decline work, subcontract to other qualified individuals (subject to USPS approval), and simultaneously provide services to other companies.
Fixed rate per trip or per route completed, paid to you as an independent business.
Most routes are local CDS box delivery routes. Return home every night.
Requirements for Independent Contractors
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR NOTICE — PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. This is an independent contractor opportunity only. No employment relationship is created or implied between you and SteadFast Transportation Inc. ("Company"). You will operate exclusively as an independently established business customarily engaged in the trade of providing mail and package delivery services.
To qualify as an independent contractor, you must: (A) be free from the Company's control and direction over how you perform the contracted services, both under any written agreement and in actual practice; (B) perform services outside the Company's usual course of business; and (C) be customarily engaged in an independently established trade, occupation, or business of the same nature as the contracted work. These requirements reflect the ABC test applied in California (Labor Code §2775), Washington (RCW 51.08.195), and numerous other states. Where a state applies a different standard—such as the IRS common-law test or a modified economic-realities test—you must independently satisfy that standard as well.
As an independent business owner, you are solely responsible for all business expenses, including vehicle purchase or lease, fuel, maintenance, insurance, licensing, taxes (including self-employment tax), and all other operating costs. You bear the full entrepreneurial risk of profit or loss. You must maintain: a principal place of business and bear its costs; a separate business bank account; a valid business registration (including a Unified Business Identifier (UBI) in Washington State); all required state and local business licenses; and adequate commercial auto and general liability insurance. You must keep a separate set of books and records reflecting all business income and expenses.
You retain the right to accept or decline any work, to subcontract services to qualified individuals (subject to USPS approval requirements), and to perform similar services for other companies simultaneously. The Company does not provide tools, equipment, or benefits of employment. You are not entitled to workers' compensation, unemployment insurance, health benefits, paid leave, or any other employee benefits.
Classification as an independent contractor depends on the actual working relationship and applicable law in each state where you operate. You are strongly encouraged to consult with a licensed attorney or tax professional in your state before entering into any contractor agreement. Nothing on this website constitutes legal or tax advice.
