Owner-operators

Independent contractor opportunities.

SteadFast Transportation Inc. contracts with independent owner-operators under individual written agreements to perform USPS Contract Delivery Service routes. This is a business-to-business opportunity, not employment.

Income and route availability are not guaranteed. Route characteristics and operating requirements vary and are defined in the written agreement.

Why SteadFast

Why owner-operators contract with us

  • Operate your own business

You decide how your business runs, including your equipment, your expenses, and your operations. You are an independent business owner, not an employee.

  • Local routes in select markets

Many routes are local to the communities they serve. Service windows and operating requirements vary by route and are set out in the written agreement.

  • Flexibility to grow

You may accept or decline work, engage qualified subcontractors subject to contract approval, and serve other clients at the same time.

The process

How it works

Four clear steps from your first inquiry to your first day on the route.

  1. Submit an inquiry

Tell us where you would like to operate and share a brief summary of your experience.

  2. Review route details

We share available route details and requirements and answer your questions, with no obligation.

  3. Sign and complete screenings

Review and sign the written agreement, then complete the required USPS background, safety, and compliance screenings.

  4. Begin your route

Once clearances are complete, you begin operating under the terms of your route agreement.

Requirements

What you will need

Specific requirements vary by route and are confirmed in the written agreement.

  • A suitable vehicle

You supply and maintain a vehicle that meets the route specifications.

  • Commercial insurance

You maintain commercial auto and liability coverage at your own expense.

  • Business registration

You operate as a registered business and manage your own tax filings.

  • USPS clearances

You complete the required USPS background, safety, and compliance screenings.

  • Licenses and permits

You obtain any applicable federal, state, and local licenses and permits.

  • Reliability and professionalism

Route performance standards are strict. Consistency and integrity are essential.

Earnings examples

Illustrative examples, not guarantees

These examples show how a fixed daily route rate translates into approximate monthly gross revenue before expenses. Actual results depend on the route, the service schedule, and your operating costs.

Example A

$198.02 per day · 6 days per week

$5,145 approximate monthly gross revenue

Calculated at 4.33 weeks per month. The contractor pays all business expenses, including fuel, vehicle costs, insurance, maintenance, and taxes. The written agreement governs the actual rate and schedule.

Example B

$257.43 per day · 6 days per week

$6,688 approximate monthly gross revenue

Calculated at 4.33 weeks per month. Operating expenses vary widely by route and vehicle. This example is not a promise of income, and route availability is not guaranteed.
